Jerry Ashelon – Odelisques

19 Photos

Rarely has a series of photos on Met-Art achieved the high status of fine art as does Jerry Ashelon’s Odelisques, The lighting, the poses, the models, the setting…it is all absolutely perfect and mesmerizing. These photographs could stand beside any great piece of art in any museum in the world.

Odelisque is the French form of Odalisque, which means a female slave or concubine in a harem. It is an ancient word, and carries with it many undertones of passion, submission, and sensuality. And the images in this series do much to highlight those undertones.

The models are captivatingly beautiful. They emit a sense of languor, of post-coital relaxation, of submission to authority. Their garments are rich and fine. They rest upon antique bedding, gently stroking each other, as if their master has left for the evening and they have nothing to do but please one another.

But what the viewer most appreciates in this series is the sheer beauty with which the models are depicted. Inna is one of the models, and though she’s appeared in many series on MET, she’s never looked finer than she does here. If you want to experience one of the deepest and finest erotic pictorials ever created, visit Jerry Ashelon’s Odelisques.
